Director of Labour and Delivery
Position Overview:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced individual to be a Director of Labour and Delivery. This leadership role is pivotal in ensuring the delivery of excellent patient care, optimising departmental efficiency, and fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for both staff and patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee operations and staffing of specific units or departments to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care.
- Plan, forecast, and monitor budgets for effective financial management.
- Foster a culture of collaboration and accountability among staff.
- Develop and implement policies, strategies, and procedures aligned with facility goals.
- Promote clinical excellence through evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety and care quality.
- Ensure adherence to established care standards and optimize clinical practices for improved efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Drive accountability and transparency in patient care delivery.
- Stay updated on internal and external benchmarks, accreditations, and regulatory standards to ensure compliance.
- Develop policies that enhance care coordination, patient throughput, and overall care delivery.
- Focus on improving patient flow, admission/discharge processes, and quality care outcomes.
- Facilitate interdisciplinary communication and collaboration to ensure appropriate staffing for patient needs.
- Manage nursing practices and unit operations to assess and meet patient and family needs effectively.
- Provide leadership in delivering an exceptional patient experience and instill accountability for positive patient interactions.
- Leverage feedback mechanisms to identify improvement opportunities in patient and customer satisfaction.
- Foster a workplace culture aligned with the organization's vision, mission, and values, recognizing and supporting employee engagement.
- Collaborate with the administrative team and physicians to enhance current services and explore new service offerings.
- Participate in the annual budgeting process, providing input on departmental revenue, expenses, staffing, and equipment needs.
- Monitor department performance and address any budgetary variances.
Desired Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree is required; a degree in Nursing is preferred.
- Master’s Degree is preferred.
- Must be currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the relevant state(s) of practice or possess an active compact license.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Fellow in Hospital Medicine (FHM), and Registered Nurse Certified in Obstetrics (RNC-OB) are preferred.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare is required, specifically in an acute care setting.
- At least 3 years of recent leadership experience in an acute care environment is required.
