Nurse Manager of Cardiac Stepdown
Position Overview:
The Nurse Manager is responsible for 24/7 oversight of a designated patient care area, ensuring high-quality, individualized care in alignment with the facility’s mission, vision, and nursing philosophy. This role focuses on staff management, patient safety, and operational efficiency, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and community involvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure accountability for the unit's care delivery, maintaining a patient-centered, goal-directed nursing environment.
- Align performance with goals in employee, patient, and physician satisfaction, as well as continuous performance improvement and community involvement.
- Develop and implement care plans utilizing the nursing process, with a focus on patient safety and evidence-based practices.
- Delegate tasks based on patient needs and staff skill levels, ensuring appropriate care is delivered.
- Demonstrate leadership in staff selection, management, and budget oversight, maintaining operating expenses at target levels.
- Promote staff involvement in health promotion activities, community engagement, lifelong learning, and nursing research.
- Adhere to infection prevention guidelines and patient safety standards as established by TJC.
- Actively identify opportunities to control costs while maintaining the quality of care and services.
- Utilize occurrence reporting systems to monitor safety trends and educate staff on error reporting to improve patient safety.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of recent leadership experience in Acute Care Critical Care settings.
- Progressive leadership experience is preferred.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN) or a related field preferred.
- Texas State RN license or compact license required.
- BLS and ACLS certifications required.
- National Specialty Certification or commitment to obtain certification within 1 year of hire.
