Process and Materials Technician

We are seeking a Process and Materials Technician to support the processing and characterisation of advanced semiconductor products. The role involves hands-on work within a cleanroom setting, working with both low-volume R&D and higher-volume production batches. You’ll contribute to process development, maintain quality and safety standards, and collaborate with engineers to improve yield and operational efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Operate within a cleanroom environment to process semiconductor wafers, following SOPs and work instructions
- Support both repetitive processing tasks and new process development, working closely with process engineers
- Follow safety protocols and use appropriate PPE to ensure a safe and controlled work environment
- Maintain high yield standards and low scrap rates through careful and accurate processing
- Communicate processing issues and collaborate with engineers to investigate and resolve yield-related concerns
- Participate in the training of new team members to ensure consistency and robustness across processes
- Conduct routine process checks, first-line equipment maintenance, and troubleshooting, escalating when needed
- Work to achieve daily and weekly production targets while maintaining strict quality control
- Take part in continuous improvement efforts by identifying inefficiencies and implementing agreed changes
- Support and contribute to the development of the Quality Management System (QMS)
Essential Skills, Experience & Qualifications
- Background in science or engineering (or equivalent experience)
- Organised and methodical approach, with strong record-keeping skills
- Experience with optical inspection tools and fine assembly tasks
- Willingness to adapt and learn as products and processes evolve
- Hands-on, proactive mindset with the ability to work in an agile and fast-changing environment
- A desire to grow professionally within an innovative and evolving industry
