About the Role
We are seeking highly skilled researchers with strong backgrounds in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or Biology to contribute to projects aimed at fine-tuning and evaluating large language models (LLMs) such as ChatGPT. This is a unique opportunity to apply your advanced STEM expertise while shaping the future of AI.
The ideal candidate is currently pursuing or has completed a Master’s, Ph.D., or Postdoctoral degree at a top-tier university (e.g., top 10 US institutions or globally recognized STEM universities). Candidates must demonstrate the ability to break down complex STEM concepts into simple, clear explanations and provide high-quality reasoning in problem-solving.
Application requirements:
Your resume must include:
- Thesis title & abstract
- LinkedIn profile link (valid)
- Google Scholar or publications link
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and solve challenging STEM problems to evaluate LLM capabilities.
- Create clear, structured, step-by-step solutions with precise reasoning.
- Collaborate with AI researchers to align problems with evaluation goals, focusing on areas where models typically struggle (e.g., abstraction, multi-step reasoning, symbolic manipulation).
- Develop new evaluation benchmarks across STEM curricula (undergraduate to PhD-level topics).
- Provide constructive feedback and detailed annotations to improve model performance.
Requirements:
- Education: Master’s degree completed or currently pursuing and/or holding a Ph.D. or Postdoc in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, or Biology.
- Strong analytical and research skills with the ability to solve complex STEM problems.
- Excellent English comprehension and communication skills.
- Ability to simplify and explain advanced STEM concepts using clear language, structured reasoning, visuals, or simulations.
- Self-motivated, reliable, and able to work independently in a remote environment.
- Good technical setup (desktop/laptop with stable internet).
- Permanent work authorization in the US.
Preferred qualifications:
- Graduate or doctoral-level research experience at top-tier institutions (e.g., Ivy League, MIT, Stanford, Caltech, Cambridge, Oxford, ETH Zurich, or equivalent globally recognized universities).
- Strong publication record (peer-reviewed journals, conferences, or thesis work).
- Creative and lateral thinking with proven ability to design challenging, original problems.
Engagement details:
- Commitment: Minimum 20 hours/week (at least 4 hours/day overlap with Pacific Time (PST)). Options to extend up to 30 or 40 hours/week.
- Contract type: Freelance/Independent Contractor (no medical/paid leave).
- Salary: Hourly pay in USD
- Duration: 1 month (with potential extension based on performance).
- Start date: 08/25.
Why Join?
- 100% remote, flexible work environment.
- Opportunity to work on cutting-edge AI projects with leading LLM companies.
- Gain experience in AI research and problem design while contributing to future-proof innovations.
