An international iGaming technology company is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer with strong architecture and distributed systems experience to support the development of scalable, high-performance platforms used across global operations.

This role combines hands-on backend engineering with system design, technical leadership, and infrastructure collaboration within a fast-paced and highly scalable environment. You will work closely with senior engineering stakeholders to help shape platform architecture, improve scalability, and drive engineering best practices across complex systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Laravel (PHP) and Vue.js

• Contribute to software architecture decisions and long-term technical strategy

• Build and optimise distributed systems, queue-based architectures, and event-driven solutions

• Work with Kafka and asynchronous processing systems to improve platform scalability and reliability

• Improve system performance, stability, monitoring, and scalability across the platform

• Collaborate with DevOps Engineers, Senior Developers, and technical leadership on infrastructure and engineering initiatives

• Participate in hands-on development while supporting technical direction and engineering standards

• Conduct code reviews, design reviews, and provide mentorship to development teams

• Work within containerised and cloud-native environments using Docker and Kubernetes

• Support continuous improvement of engineering practices, development workflows, and technical scalability

REQUIREMENTS:

• 5-8+ years of software engineering experience

• Strong backend development experience with Laravel (PHP) or similar frameworks

• Strong experience with system architecture and scalable software design

• Experience with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and queue-based processing

• Hands-on experience with Kafka and asynchronous messaging systems

• Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks, ideally Vue.js

• Strong knowledge of MySQL and NoSQL databases

• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is highly preferred

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and ownership mindset

• Ability to work effectively within fast-paced technical environments

• Strong written and spoken English communication skills
