R&D Engineer - Textile Dyeing & Finishing
We are looking for an experienced R&D Engineer specialising in textile dyeing and finishing to support the development and industrialisation of innovative materials for demanding applications, including the automotive sector.
You will manage customer sampling activities, develop and optimise dyeing processes, and work closely with R&D, Sales, Quality, Operations, suppliers and customer-facing teams. The role combines hands-on technical development with supplier coordination, customer requirements and industrial-scale implementation.
Responsibilities
Manage customer sampling and development activities related to textile dyeing and finishing.
Translate customer requirements into appropriate treatments, technologies, colours and technical specifications.
Select solutions based on colour accuracy, UV resistance, durability and compatibility with different materials and manufacturing processes.
Prepare technical specifications for samples, prototypes and development trials.
Conduct sampling and development activities within the dyeing laboratory.
Coordinate with suppliers to ensure prototypes and samples meet technical, quality and delivery requirements.
Support the industrialisation of new dyeing processes in collaboration with R&D, Operations and Quality teams.
Define specifications and quality requirements for serial production.
Provide on-site technical support to suppliers and contribute to process capability and repeatability studies.
Investigate relationships between raw materials, dyeing processes, manufacturing conditions and resulting colour performance.
Develop new colours and continuously improve process reliability, stability and efficiency.
Contribute to reducing the environmental and economic impact of dyeing processes.
Collaborate with international and cross-functional stakeholders throughout development and industrialisation.
Requirements
Degree in Textile Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science or a related discipline.
Strong technical knowledge of textile dyeing, treatments and finishing processes.
Practical experience developing or industrialising textile dyeing processes.
Understanding of colour performance, colour stability and material/process interactions.
Experience with natural fibres, yarns or composite materials is an advantage.
Ability to manage several technical projects and customer requirements simultaneously.
Structured, analytical and solution-oriented approach.
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with customers, suppliers and multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to work autonomously while sharing technical information effectively.
Fluency in English is required.
German, French or Italian is a strong advantage.
Willingness to travel when required.
