Field Service Technician - Mechanical & Hydraulic Systems (12-months FTC)
We are looking for an experienced, hands-on Field Service Technician to provide installation, maintenance, repair and technical support directly at customer sites. This is a highly autonomous field position. You will start your working day from home using a fully equipped company service vehicle and travel directly to customer locations across the Northeast Netherlands. Visits to the headquarters in The Hague are occasional and only when necessary. The role combines mechanical and hydraulic troubleshooting with basic electronics, remote diagnostics and direct customer interaction.
Responsibilities
Respond to breakdown and service requests through the internal ticketing system.
Carry out installation, maintenance and repair assignments at customer sites.
Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic and basic electronic faults.
Use telemetry and equipment data to diagnose issues remotely before travelling on-site.
Repair equipment on-site or replace modules/components using stock carried in the service vehicle.
Install, configure, calibrate and test new equipment according to technical specifications.
Deliver short practical training sessions to customers following installations.
Maintain accurate control of spare parts, tools and replacement modules assigned to the service vehicle.
Participate in larger customer installations, rollouts and technical projects.
Complete approximately 3-4 service calls per day, depending on travel distances and complexity.
Participate in a rotating weekend standby service.
Attend technical and product training required for the role.
Work independently while collaborating with colleagues and other departments when required.
Requirements
5+ years of hands-on technical service or maintenance experience.
Strong practical background in mechanics and hydraulics.
Basic working knowledge of electronics.
Experience troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining technical equipment or machinery.
Comfortable using laptops/tablets and diagnostic or telemetry software.
Able to work independently in the field with limited supervision.
Strong customer-service and communication skills.
Comfortable explaining technical issues and providing short customer training sessions.
Vocational or technical education is preferred; practical experience is more important than a university degree.
Good Dutch and English communication skills.
Valid driving licence required.
Willingness to participate in rotating weekend standby duties.
Must reside in, or be able to cover, the Northeast Netherlands efficiently.
Ability to provide a Certificate of Conduct (VOG) during the final recruitment stage.
Benefits
12-month full-time employment contract.
Home-based field working model with no daily commute to headquarters.
Fully equipped company service vehicle.
